CRITERIA FOR DIRECT STATE COMPETITIONS
Theme: “Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow: The Journey of a Nursing Student”
At the State level, the best 5 papers which are shortlisted at the preliminary screening will be permitted to present by the concerned student researchers. Out of five, the best three will be selected for the positions of first, second and third, and the paper which receives the first place will be forwarded to the National level competition. If selected at the National level, the researcher who presented the paper at the State level will be presenting at the National Conference.
The research article should follow the guidelines below:
- Introduction
- Need and Significance in Nursing
- Statement of the Problem
- Methodology
- Interpretation of Findings (presented in one or two tables)
- Discussion (based on previous studies)
- Recommendations
- Conclusion
- Bibliography
The scientific paper shall not exceed 2000 words.
i. At the State Level : The unit SNAI Advisor may instruct students to submit a soft copy of the completed research report to tamilnadutnai@gmail.com on or before 10 pm of 20.07.2025.
- It should be based on the theme.
- Only one entry per institution will be accepted.
- The SNA advisor or faculty can guide the students, who should be a TNAI member.
- The maximum number of student researchers should be 3.
- The best five selected participants /research will be permitted to present at the State level conference.
- Only one student researcher will be permitted to present the paper.
- A certificate will be issued to all students who conducted the research.
- The paper which receives the first place will be forwarded to the National level competition.
- PPT presentation is accepted for 12 minutes, which includes 8 - minute presentation and 4 - minute Q& A session.
- Research report received after the deadline will not be included.
ii. National Level:
The TNAI Headquarters will select the top three scientific papers and notify the State SNAI Advisor, the respective principal of the SNAI Unit, and the student researcher(s). For a group study, all three students will be invited to attend the SNAI Biennial Conference 2025, but only one student will be permitted to present the paper during the conference. The TNAI Headquarters will reimburse the round-trip three-tier AC rail fare for student researchers maximum three per study , and additionally, Rs. 1,000/- per Student for local transportation.
At the State level, the top 3 teams, consisting of 3 in each team will be selected for the positions of first, second and third, and the team that receives the first place will participate in the National level competition.

II General Rules
- Direct questions will carry 10 marks.
- Pass-on questions will carry 5 marks.
- Direct questions will have 30 seconds for answering, and no extra time will be allowed for pass-on questions.
- Only the first answer from each team will be entertained.
- The score will be displayed by the scorer after each round.
- The decision of the Quiz master shall be considered final.
III Preliminary Round for all the participants:
- One set of question papers for each team (three members) from each unit / State / National.
- Number of questions: 30 (Multiple choice questions).
- An equal number of questions from the 6 topics (mentioned above) shall be included.
- Time: 30 minutes.
Selection: The Top six terms will be selected after the preliminary round.
IV Rounds
A. Round One (Passing round-five questions)

B. Round Two (Passing round)
- Current affairsOne audio for each team.
- One Image related to medical & disease conditions for each team.
C. Round Three (Non-passing round) – Nursing Subjects
Subjects: 5 questions from each subject for each team
- Medical - Surgical Nursing
- Child Health Nursing
- OBG Nursing
- Mental Health Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
D. Round Four (Passing round) – Video - One question for each team
E. Round Five (Non-Passing round) – Rapid Fire
Five questions related to nursing for each team (Max 60 sec for 10 questions).
Competitions will be conducted at the State level only, and the Winner, 1st and 2nd runner up will be selected. The winner will be participating in national-level competition.
Criteria
- Only one entry per institution will be permitted
- Only one participant for Miss. & Mr. SNAI per institution will be permitted
- Miss. SNAI & Mr. SNAI will be conducted separately
- Contestants will be selected based on their performance in rounds
The rounds shall be restricted to only 3
Round - 1 – Traditional attire
Round - 2 – Contemporary / western attire
Round – 3 - Question and Answer round
A. Round -1 Traditional attire
Criteria for evaluation:
- Grooming
- Walk and posture
- Self-introduction – For one minute
- Confidence
- The ability to carry themselves / style
Fifty per cent (50%) of the total participants will be selected for the next round
B. Round - 2 Contemporary / Western attire
One question to all the candidates
Time: 1 minute
Criteria for evaluation:
- Outfit Choice & Styling
- Accessories & Detailing
- Confidence & Stage Presence
- Overall Appeal & Impression
Only the top 6 contestants out of the total will be selected for the next round.
C. Round – 3 Question and Answer round
The judges may provide a common question that participants can write down. They will then read their response aloud when it's their turn, and the following will be evaluated:
- Befitting answer
- Clarity
- Language
- Spontaneity
- Smartness
Out of the total 6 contestants, only 3 will be selected as the final winners

The competition for male & female contestants shall be conducted separately.
Sports events are:
- 100 Meters Race, (Male/Female)
- 4x100 Meters Relay, (Male/Female)
- High Jump (Male/Female)
- Long Jump (Male/Female)
- Volleyball (Male) - 6 players
- Throw Ball (Female) - 9 players
- Discus throw (Male/Female)
- Javelin throw (Male/Female)
- Shot-put (Male/Female)
Competitions will be conducted at the State level only and the Winner will participate in the National level competition.
Criteria
- Only one entry for male and female separately per event per institution will be accepted.
- Competitions will be separate for male and female candidates.
- Personal discus and javelin will not be permitted.
- Participants should be available when the event starts. Organizers are not responsible for overlapping of the names or events.
- Rules of particular sports will be strictly adhered to.
- A student can participate in either two track events or one track and one field event only.
- A student can register only for either sports or non sports activity.
- The institution’s sports coach will not be entertained to engage in any kind of arguments with the referees and the referees decision is final.
Note:
- Volley Ball (Male) Six (6) players. Can have maximum of 6 standby players (substitutes).
- Throw Ball (Female) Nine (9) players. Can have maximum of 5 standby players (substitutes).
ZONAL TO STATE COMPETITIONS
At the State level, the best 3 SNAI units will be selected for the positions of first, second and third and the unit which receives first place will be forwarded to the National competition. Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level, and the best 3 units will be awarded prizes. The first three reports shall be forwarded to the State level competition.
The criteria for evaluation Best SNAI Unit Report:
- i) Establishment Details: Year of establishment of the Institution and the Year of establishment of the SNAI unit.
- ii) Continuous Renewal: Uninterrupted renewal of the unit(without any break) over the last three years (2023, 2024, & 2025) by regularly paying the SNAI.
- iii) Participation in SNAI Conferences(2023): Number of SNAI conferences attended by the unit at the State and National level in the year 2023.
- iv) Awards and Achievements: Number of Awards received at the State and National conferences in 2023.
- v) Unit Report Submission: The unit report shall include details of all activities conducted with date, venue and photographs as supportive documents. The report shall be in any format (Either SNAI dairy or any format adopted by the SNAI unit). Submission of the TNAI Diary is not mandatory.
- vi) SNAI to TNAI Membership Transition: Number of SNAI members enrolled as TNAI members in 2023, 2024 & 2025.
- vii) Student Participation in the National Level Conference: Number of students who participated in the National level Conference from respective SNAI Unit. (attach supportive documents)
- viii) Special Achievements and Initiatives: Any extraordinary performance / special programs organized by the SNAI Unit. (attach supportive documents)
- ix) Prizes won at SNAI conferences(2023): 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes won by the unit at the state/National level in SNAI conference 2023.
The State Branch will scrutinize and forward one best unit report to the TNAI Headquarters for final evaluation.
The hard copy of the report should be submitted to the State hosting institution on the day of competition.
After scrutiny, the same will be returned to the institution.
At the State level, the three best posters for each section will be selected for the position of first, second and third and the poster which receives the first place will be forwarded to the National level competition.
Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level and the three best posters for each category, ANM / MPHW & GNM / BSC(N) will be awarded prizes at the zonal level. The first three prize winners at the zonal level from each category will be participating at State level competition.

Instructions:
- 1. On the spot poster preparation by two participants per team.
- 2. Chart shall be provided by the host institution.
- 3. Participants should bring their own drawing / painting / colouring material
- 4. Time: Two hours
- 5. Participants must use poster paints only.
- 6. Use of fabric paint or any other type is not allowed.
Criteria
- Poster size: Standard size (approximately 22"x26")
- A maximum of two participants per poster will be permitted
- Topics: Ideas depicted in the poster should be relevant to the topics given above.
- Lettering and design of the poster should be bold and big enough to be visible from a distance.
- Clarity: To ensure clarity, focus on one idea that is relevant to the topic.
- Layout of pictures in the poster must be properly balanced to give a correct sense of proportion
- No Extra fixing of clippings / cuttings or any other form on the poster and it should depict originality with innovative ideas. It should be hand drawn
- Principles of poster making should be followed.
- A balance of pictorial and written depiction is expected.
- No name or identity of the institution or participant should be revealed in the poster. If found, the poster will be disqualified
At the State level, the best 3 mono actors will be selected for the positions of first, second and third and the student who receives the first place will be participating at National level competition.
Criteria
- Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level and the best three Mono actors will be awarded prizes.
- First three prize holders will be participating in the State level competition.
- Topic: of your own
- Language used to express shall be English only
- Time: 03 minutes
- Only one entry per institution will be permitted
- Only one participant per institution will be permitted

- 1. The candidate must provide a brief introduction in one sentence before beginning the performance.
- 2. The participants will perform the roles and dialogue of two or more characters.
At the State level, the best 3 students will be selected for the positions of first, second and third and the student who receives the first place will be participating at the National level competition.

- Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level and the student who receives the first three places will be awarded prizes at the zonal level.
- The first three prize winners will be participating at the State level competition.
- The topic for the Zonal and State level will be separate
- Language: English
- Maximum Time: 03 minutes
- Topics will be given on the spot
- Only one entry per institution will be permitted
- Verbal and nonverbal expressions will be evaluated

At the State level, the best 3 Essays will be selected for the positions of first, second and third and the student who receives the first place will be participating at the National level competition.

- Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level, and the best 3 Essays (candidates) will be awarded prizes.
- The first three prize winners will be participating at the State levelcompetition.
- The topic for the Zonal and State level will be separate which are general topics of current relevance.
- Topic: On the spot announcement
- Word limit: 500 words
- Time : One hour (Previously 30 minutes)
- Language: English
- Number of Entry: One participant from each institution
- No pasting of any kind is permitted
- Paper to write the essay will be distributed at the venue.
- No copying will be allowed.
- Pen, pencils and sketches should be brought by the participants

- Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level, and the three best On-the-spot paintings will be awarded prizes.
- The first three prize winners will be participating at the State level competition.
- The topic for the Zonal and State level will be separate.
- Topics will be given on the spot.
- Only one entry per institution will be permitted.
- Only one participant will be permitted.
- Time: 1 hour
- Participants shall bring their own painting material
- Mechanical devices, stencils and similar items are not allowed.
Note:
- A3 size Chart paper shall be provided at the venue by organizers on the spot
- Participants should bring their own painting materials.
- Mechanical devices, stencils, and similar items are not allowed
At the State level, the best 3 students will be selected for the positions of first, second and third and the student who receives the first place will participate at National level competition.
Criteria
- Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level and the best 3 Pencil sketches will be awarded prizes at the zonal level
- The first three prize winners will be participating at the State level competition.
- Topics will be given on the spot.
- The topic for the Zonal and State level will be separate.
- Only one entry per institution will be permitted.
- Only one participant per institution will be permitted.
- Time: 1 hour
- Participants shall bring their own material for sketching.
- A3 chart paper will be provided to the participants at the venue by the organizers on the spot.
- Mechanical devices and stencil are not permitted.

At the State level, the best 3 Rangoli will be selected for the positions of first, second and third and the student who receives the first place will participate in the national-level competition.

- Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level and the best 3 rangoli participants will be awarded at the zonal level
- The first three prize winners will be participating at the State level competition.
- Topics will be given on the spot
- Only one entry per institution will be permitted.
- Only one participant per institution will be permitted
- Time: 1 hour
- Size: 3 x 3 feet
- Participants shall bring their own material
- Use of Mechanical devices are not allowed

At the State level, the best 3 dances will be selected for the position of first, second and third and the students’ dance group who receives the first place will be participating at National level competition.
Criteria
- Competitions will be conducted at the Zonal level and the best 3 Dance performance will be awarded prizes at the zonal level.
- The first three prize winners will be participating at the State level competition.
- Only one entry per institution will be permitted. (all boys, all girls, or a mix of boys and girls).
- Not more than 8 participants can participate
- Time: 05 minutes
- Type of Dance: Folk or Cinematic
- All should register for the competition

The institution’s dance master/coach will not be entertained to engage in any kind of arguments with the juries and the juries decision is final.
Note for National Participation:
i) The song must be sent to the Headquarters 15 days before the National Conference.
ii) If the song exceeds 05 minutes, the participants shall be informed to trim the song to 05 minutes.
